Recipe: Applesauce Cookies
Summary: November 29 - A Cookie A Day Until Christmas! I had to include something from my mother-in-law, Elly Decker. When I met my mother-in-law, her kitchen days were behind her, but I hear good things about her skills. When I baked these cookies, it made my husband so happy! I know it brought back good “Mom” memories for him.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon cloves
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup raisins
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 beaten egg
Instructions
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Cream shortening; add sugar.
- Add rest of ingredients; mix well.
- Bake on cookie sheet in 375° oven, 15-20 minutes until lightly brown. That seems like an awful long time… I’d keep an eye on them.
